We read the Princess Bride (watched the movie at Jessica's house) and had a great discussion about The Invention of Wings.
Sometime late August or early September, we'll meet at Holly's house to discuss The Camel Bookmobile. Date TBA. Time 7:30.

Our next book is The Wednesday Letters by Jason F. Wright. Tanya will lead the discussion. We'll meet at Alisa's house. “A lovely story: heartening, wholesome, humorous, suspenseful, and redemptive. It resonates with the true meaning of family and the life-healing power of forgiveness all wrapped up in a satisfying ending.”--Publishers Weekly Jessica will lead the discussion of the book Wonder at Barbara's house on September 17th. See you there! 'My name is August. I won't describe what I look like. Whatever you're thinking, it's probably worse.' Auggie wants to be an ordinary ten-year-old. He does ordinary things - eating ice cream, playing on his Xbox. He feels ordinary - inside. But ordinary kids don't make other ordinary kids run away screaming in playgrounds. Ordinary kids aren't stared at wherever they go. Born with a terrible facial abnormality, Auggie has been home-schooled by his parents his whole life. Now, for the first time, he's being sent to a real school - and he's dreading it. All he wants is to be accepted - but can he convince his new classmates that he's just like them, underneath it all? WONDER is a funny, frank, astonishingly moving debut to read in one sitting, pass on to others, and remember long after the final page. July 25th at 7:30 Stephani will lead our discussion of The Chosen. We'll meet at Jessica's house. Let me know if you would like to borrow the e-book or book. I have both. If you are old enough to remember teen heartthrob Robby Benson, you might enjoy the movie version of the book starring him in the role of Danny Saunders. |
